Freeing Julian Assange - Big events coming up this week – we hope we will see you there.

Jennifer Robinson is speaking at the National Press Club this Wednesday 19th Oct! We want to give her a fantastic welcome reception outside at 11.30pm to 12 noon, please come along! Bookings here.

She has been extremely courageous in her defence of Julian Assange and is the person best placed to hear from regarding Julian’s situation. You’ve probably heard that Julian has Covid at the moment – we sincerely hope that he is receiving good medical attention in jail.

There will also be international press there and many MPs and other VIPs, so if you’re coming to the NPC lunch, if you could join us outside beforehand from 11.30am, that would be great.

AND, after the NPC lunch, at 1.40pm, there will be international press outside with a number of 2 minute speeches. Invitees include:

Jennifer Robinson,   Bernard Collaery,   David McBride,   Senator David Shoebridge,   Dr Monique Ryan MP,   Human rights lawyer, Kelly Tranter,   Senator Peter Whish-Wilson,     Journalist and former SBS new presenter, Mary Kostakidis

So if you can’t make it to the lunch, do please try and come along at around 1.40pm to help make this an occasion that will grab the headlines for helping to free Julian Assange.

The European Parliament named Julian one of the three finalists for the 2022 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. The award recognizes those who have dedicated their lives to the defense of human rights and freedom of thought, and the list of previous winners includes Nelson Mandela, Malala Yousafzai, Aung San Suu Kyi, Nadia Nurad, and Alexei Navalny. Julian’s freedom is so important for press freedom and democracy!

Be at 3 National Cct tomorrow, 18 October!

Also, tomorrow, Tuesday, we will be outside the AGs Department as usual at 3 National Cct with banners for Julian Assange and placards also for David McBride and Richard Boyle. Please come along if you can!

David McBride's PID defence starts 27 October!

Don’t forget David McBride’s hearing to start his public interest disclosure defence is on Thursday next week, 27th October, and we will be rallying at the courts at 9am. Speakers will include Bernard Collaery and Senator David Shoebridge, and another speaker being invited is Dr Monique Ryan MP.

Richard Boyle's final submission in his PID defence will, we understand, take place this Wednesday at the Adelaide District Court in Victoria Square.
